These figures come from one national broker’s published sizes, checked November 1, 2026. Another national company lists a slightly bigger box, about 23 × 8.3 × 6.1 feet, and calls it 12 pickup loads. Sizes vary by company and by maker. Your exact specs are confirmed on the call.

The “yard” means cubic yards of space. Thirty cubic yards is 810 cubic feet. That’s three times a 10-yard and half again as much as a 20-yard.

The 30-yard shares its footprint with the 20-yard in that broker’s specs. The extra room comes from taller walls, 6 feet instead of 4.5. See how every size lines up in the Yuma dumpster size guide.

Will a 30-yard dumpster fit in my Yuma driveway?

Often, if you have a straight run of about 60 feet for the truck. The box itself is about 22 by 7.5 feet.

The footprint is about 165 square feet. That’s about the same as a 20-yard, so the 30 doesn’t need more ground. It does need the truck to line up and back in. One national broker says its driver needs at least 60 feet of space to drop the bin. It also needs 23 to 25 feet of clear space overhead to raise the box and slide it off.

Another national company says its boxes are about 7.5 feet wide, so they fit a standard 9 to 12-foot-wide driveway. Length is the bigger question. A 22-foot box can cover most of a short driveway and block the garage door.

Walk the spot before delivery day. Check these things.

  • Power lines, branches, carports and roof edges above the spot
  • A straight path for the truck, with gates wide enough to pass
  • A hard, level surface, like a concrete or asphalt driveway
  • Room to open the back door and walk debris in

Read whether a dumpster will fit in your driveway for the full checklist.

Protect the driveway. Ask the driver to set the dumpster on boards. A full 30-yard is heavy, and steel rails press into a small area. Summer makes it worse. Yuma averages 118 days a year at 100°F or hotter (NOAA 1991–2020 normals, verified on 2026-10-15). Hot asphalt softens under that weight. Read how Yuma heat affects asphalt driveways.

HOA neighborhoods. We found no Yuma-wide HOA rule, because each HOA writes its own. Many HOAs want approval before a dumpster arrives. Get that approval in writing before delivery day. See dumpster rules in an HOA neighborhood.

Fortuna Foothills lots. The Foothills is unincorporated, so Yuma County rules apply there, not City of Yuma rules (U.S. Census, verified on 2026-10-15). Some Foothills lots are tight. Mobile homes make up 47.4% of its housing units (ACS 2020–2024, verified on 2026-10-15). If the truck can’t line up, a shorter 15-yard for tight lots may be the better pick. See dumpster rental in Fortuna Foothills.

Street placement. Use the driveway when you can. No Yuma office has confirmed a roll-off rule for streets yet. The City of Yuma’s encroachment form asks you to apply 10 to 60 days before the work, and it doesn’t name dumpsters. Call before you set a date. See street placement and permits in Yuma.

How much does a 30 yard dumpster cost in Yuma?

A 30-yard in Yuma typically costs about $410–$860, as of October 2026. Your exact price is confirmed on the call.

Extra dayAbout $10–$30 per day
Extra ton (overage)About $50–$100 per ton
Trip fee if the driver can’t drop or pick upCustomers report about $195–$200

These prices come from published Yuma rates at Dumpster Rental Crew Yuma ($410–$720) and ZTERS Yuma ($670–$860), checked October 15, 2026. Trip-fee figures come from customer reviews. They are market figures, not a set price and not a quote.

The 30-yard often costs only a little more than a 20-yard. Dumpster Rental Crew Yuma’s published 30-yard range starts $70 above its 20-yard. That gap is usually smaller than the cost of a second box. A second box means a second delivery and pickup.

A few things move the final bill most.

  • Debris weight. Each ton over about 4 typically costs $50–$100.
  • Rental days. Each extra day typically costs $10–$30.
  • A failed trip. A blocked driveway or an overfilled box can bring a trip fee.
  • Swaps. On a long job, each swap is a new haul. Ask how it’s priced and how many tons each box includes.

Ask for the total in writing before delivery. It should list the size, price, tons, days, overage per ton and extra-day fee. See every fee and when it applies, or read the full Yuma dumpster rental cost guide.

How much weight can a 30-yard dumpster hold?

In Yuma, a 30-yard typically includes about 4 tons, which is 8,000 pounds. Some companies include less, so confirm your limit on the call.

National figures vary a lot. One national broker lists 2 to 4 tons for its 30-yard. Another national company lists 6 to 7 tons. Those are not Yuma figures. The number on your written quote is the one that counts.

Weight is billed after pickup. The landfill weighs the truck and prints a scale ticket, which is the landfill’s weight receipt. Ask for a copy of the landfill scale ticket if you’re billed for overage. Surprise overage bills were the most common complaint in the national reviews we read. Here’s how overage charges work in Yuma.

A big box makes overage easy. Rough weights per cubic yard show why.

MaterialRough weight per cubic yardAbout how much fits in 4 tons
Concrete2,850 lb2.8 cubic yards
Gravel or rock, loose2,565 lb3.1 cubic yards
Soil, dry2,025 lb4 cubic yards
Yard trimmings350 lb22.9 cubic yards, less than a full 30-yard

The weights come from the City of Seattle’s conversion table, checked October 20, 2026. The city says it’s for general guidance only. Wet material weighs more than dry, so treat these as rough.

Look at the last row. A 30-yard packed to the top with branches and clippings could weigh about 5.25 tons. That’s over a 4-ton limit, even though nothing in it feels heavy. At $50–$100 a ton, the extra 1.25 tons could add about $63–$125. Mention palm fronds and yard waste when you book. Then read the rules for yard waste and palm fronds.

Can concrete, dirt or rock go in a 30-yard dumpster?

It’s a poor fit. About 2.8 cubic yards of concrete reaches a 4-ton limit, so a 30-yard would sit mostly empty.

Spread 2.8 cubic yards of concrete across a floor about 22 by 7.5 feet. It sits only about 5 or 6 inches deep. The box looks nearly empty, but it’s already at the weight limit. Fill it higher and every extra ton shows up on the bill.

Use a 10-yard for concrete, dirt and rock instead. Its low walls and short footprint suit heavy debris. Desert landscaping rock and old patio slabs count as heavy debris too. Ask the hauler whether concrete or dirt must go in a separate load before you mix it with other debris. Then read the rules for concrete, dirt and sod.

Got a mixed job, like a remodel with a small patio tear-out? Tell the hauler the rough amount of each. They can say whether a 30-yard stays under its tons or whether two boxes make more sense.

Mixed heavy and bulky debris? Call (928) 296-5462 and list both before you book.

Is a 30-yard right for a whole-house or estate cleanout?

30-yard roll-off dumpster holding a sofa, chairs, rolled carpet and boxes beside a stucco home

Usually yes for a full house of furniture and belongings. A small home or apartment often fits a 20-yard.

Whole-house cleanouts are mostly bulky, light debris. Sofas, mattresses, dressers and boxes leave gaps, so they take more room than you’d expect. That’s where a 30-yard’s tall walls help. Count your pickup loads, then add a little. If you get past about 6, the 30-yard is the size to ask about.

CleanoutSize to ask about firstWhy
Apartment or small-home move-out20-yardAbout 6 pickup loads is often enough
Whole house, fully furnished30-yardBulky items need volume
Estate cleanout with garage and shed30-yard, or a 30 plus a swapLarge volume over several days

These fits are general guidance from our size guide and national 30-yard pages, checked November 1, 2026. They’re not a promise that your load will fit.

Sort before the box arrives. Set aside keepsakes, donations and banned items first. Then your rental days go to loading, not deciding. Most Yuma rentals run about 7 days, and extra days typically cost $10–$30 each. The estate and home cleanout dumpster guide has a sorting plan.

Snowbird homes. Snowbird season sets the calendar here. About 57% of seasonal homeowners leave in April, and 34% arrive in October (ASU Yuma Winter Visitors Report, 2017–18 season, an older study). In Fortuna Foothills, 24% of all housing units are seasonal (ACS 2020–2024, verified on 2026-10-15). Closing up a winter home for good can mean a whole-house cleanout. Book pickup before your travel date so the box doesn’t sit while you’re gone.

Can’t lift it all? A dumpster means you do the loading. If no one in the family can carry heavy furniture, a junk removal crew for estate cleanouts loads it for you. Compare the two in a dumpster against junk removal for a cleanout.

Closing up an estate or winter home? Call (928) 296-5462 and ask about delivery and pickup dates. Calls are answered 24/7.

Will a 30-yard hold a multi-room or whole-house remodel?

Long roll-off dumpster loaded with cabinet boxes and wood scraps next to an open garage

Usually yes. National companies list multi-room remodels, home additions and fixer-upper projects as 30-yard jobs. Heavy tile and plaster still count toward the tons.

RemodelDoes a 30-yard fit?What to watch
Kitchen plus one or two bathsUsuallyTile, tubs and plaster are heavy
Flooring and drywall through most of a houseUsuallyWet drywall and carpet weigh more
Whole-house gut remodelOften, with a swapLarge volume over several days
Home additionOftenFraming scrap is bulky but light
One bathroom onlyToo bigA 10-yard is the usual fit

These fits come from published 30-yard pages at Budget Dumpster and Republic Services, checked November 1, 2026. They’re general guidance, not a promise that your load will fit.

Drywall and carpet can usually go in a roll-off. Confirm with the hauler before you load. See what to know about drywall and carpet.

Older Yuma homes need a test first. In ZIP 85364, 44.8% of housing units were built before 1980 (U.S. Census, ACS 2020–2024, verified on 2026-10-15). Some older flooring, ceiling texture and siding can contain asbestos. Arizona’s ADEQ requires an asbestos notice 10 working days before any demolition, even when no asbestos is present. Have suspect material tested, and keep it out of the dumpster. The construction and remodel dumpster guide covers the asbestos rules.

Running a big remodel? Ask about swaps before the job starts. A swap means the full box leaves and an empty one comes in. Ask how much notice it needs and whether each box includes its own tons. Read how delivery, swaps and pickup work.

How many squares of shingles fit in a 30-yard dumpster?

By weight, 4 tons covers roughly 32–34 squares of single-layer 3-tab shingles, or about 18–20 squares of architectural. Confirm your included tons first.

A roofing square is 100 square feet of roof. Shingles are heavy for their size. In a 30-yard, the weight limit can run out before the space does.

Shingle typeWeight per squareSquares in 4 tonsWeight of 30 squares
3-tab asphalt230–250 lbAbout 32–34About 3.45–3.75 tons
Architectural asphalt400–430 lbAbout 18–20About 6–6.45 tons

Shingle weights come from Dumpsters.com’s shingle weight guide, checked October 20, 2026. Weights vary by brand. The square counts are simple math, tons divided by weight per square. They count one layer and leave out underlayment and nails.

So what about 30 squares? A single layer of 3-tab may stay under a 4-ton limit. Thirty squares of architectural shingles would run about 2 to 2.5 tons over. A second layer doubles the shingles for each square of roof.

Overage on a heavy roof adds up. Ask the hauler to price one 30-yard with overage against two smaller boxes. Tell them your squares, shingle type and layers before you book. See roofing dumpsters for Yuma tear-offs for crew timing, or the 20-yard for a single roof tear-off.

Planning a tear-off? Call (928) 296-5462 with your squares, layers and start date.

Does a 30-yard work for new construction and commercial cleanouts?

30-yard dumpster filled with lumber offcuts and broken drywall at a new house framing site

Yes, it’s a common size for both. Framing scrap, drywall offcuts, packaging and old fixtures are bulky and fairly light.

National size guides list home additions and multi-room renovations as typical 30-yard jobs. A new-build site makes a steady stream of lumber ends, cardboard, wrap and drywall scraps. That debris is usually bulky for its weight, unlike concrete or dirt. Keep concrete washout, dirt and block out of the box.

Building is steady here. Yuma County permitted 1,155 new housing units in 2025, and San Luis permitted 175 of them (U.S. Census Building Permits Survey). Homes in Somerton and San Luis are newer, with a median build year of 2002 in each (ACS 2020–2024, verified on 2026-10-15).

Commercial cleanouts. Store build-outs and office cleanouts can fit a 30-yard. City of Yuma code lets roll-offs from private firms take waste other than garbage (sec. 190-50). Keep food waste and household garbage out. Free county transfer sites refuse commercial loads, so business waste goes through a roll-off or a commercial site.

Ask the hauler whether they offer repeat service for a contractor with ongoing sites. The construction and commercial dumpster guide covers swaps, job-site placement and heat. For box placement on a lot, see where a dumpster goes on a construction site.

Running a crew? Call (928) 296-5462 with the job address, size and start date.

Should I pick a 20, 30 or 40-yard dumpster?

Pick the 30-yard when debris is bulky and runs about 7 to 9 pickup loads. Go smaller for heavy debris, bigger for major construction.

SizeDimensions (L × W × H)About how many pickup loadsTypical tons includedTypical Yuma price
20-yard22 × 7.5 × 4.5 ft6About 3About $340–$830
30-yard22 × 7.5 × 6 ft9About 4About $410–$860
40-yard22 × 7.5 × 8 ft12About 5About $490–$915

Same sources as the price table above, as of October 2026. Your exact price is confirmed on the call.

All three share about the same footprint in one broker’s specs. Only the wall height changes. So the choice comes down to volume, weight and how easy it is to load.

Step down to a 20-yard for a single kitchen remodel, a roof tear-off or a move-out. Its 4.5-foot walls are easier to toss debris over. See the 20-yard for remodels, roofs and move-outs.

Go even smaller for heavy debris or a tight lot. The 10-yard for heavy debris is about 14 feet long. The 15-yard for in-between jobs is about 15 to 16 feet long.

Step up to a 40-yard for major construction, demolition or a very large cleanout of light debris. Its 8-foot walls are hard to load by hand, so the back door matters. Read about the 40-yard for major construction.

When you’re between two sizes, the bigger one is often cheaper than a second dumpster. With heavy debris, ask the hauler to compare overage against a second box. Compare all five dumpster sizes side by side.

How do I load a 30-yard dumpster so it holds more?

Walk heavy and flat items in through the back door first, then stack bulky items on top. Keep everything level with the top of the walls.

The walls are about 6 feet tall, so tossing debris over them is hard work. One national broker says you can walk debris in through its 30-yard’s swinging door. Ask which way the door should face when you book. Then park the box so you can wheel a dolly or wheelbarrow straight in.

A few habits fit more in and keep the bill down.

  • Load the heaviest debris first and spread it flat across the floor.
  • Break down furniture, cabinets and boxes to close gaps.
  • Put long boards and pipes along the floor, not standing up.
  • Shut and latch the door before you fill above it.
  • Keep the load level with the top of the walls, with nothing sticking out.

That top edge is the fill line. Debris above it can’t be hauled safely. The driver may ask you to take some out, which can mean a second trip and a trip fee. Read how the fill line works.

Heat and storms. Load in the morning from May to October, when extreme heat sets the pace. Keep water and shade nearby. Monsoon season runs June 15 to September 30. Rain soaks into drywall, carpet and cardboard, and wet debris weighs more. Storm gusts near 60 mph have hit the area, and wind can lift light debris out of an open box. Tarp the load at the end of each day.

What can’t go in a 30-yard dumpster?

Tires, lead-acid batteries, liquid paint, hazardous chemicals, asbestos and household garbage can’t go in. Fridges and AC units need special handling.

A big cleanout turns up more of these than you’d think. Pull them out as you sort.

  • Tires. Arizona bans waste tires from landfills unless ADEQ approves it (A.R.S. 44-1304).
  • Car batteries. Arizona bans lead-acid batteries from landfills (A.R.S. 44-1322).
  • Fridges, freezers and AC units. A federal rule requires the refrigerant to be recovered first (40 CFR 82.155).
  • Paint, oil, pool chemicals and pesticides. These are household hazardous waste.
  • Suspected asbestos. It has its own ADEQ handling rules.

The City of Yuma holds a free household hazardous waste collection on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 8 a.m. to noon. It’s at Public Works, 1473 S. 2nd Ave. It’s free for City of Yuma and Yuma County residents, with no appointment needed (verified on 2026-10-15).

Ask the hauler before you load anything unusual. Some charge a fee for banned items found in the load. Read the full list of what can and can’t go in a dumpster in Yuma.

Where does a full 30-yard go after pickup?

The hauler takes it to a landfill or a transfer station that accepts commercial loads. The load is weighed there.

Three Yuma County sites are listed for large and commercial loads. They are South Yuma County Landfill, Copper Mountain Landfill near Wellton and the Republic Services transfer station in Yuma. The free county transfer sites take non-commercial household loads only, so they can’t take roll-off loads.

The weight on that scale ticket decides any overage. Hours, addresses and phone numbers are in the Yuma dump and landfill guide. For the steps after the truck leaves, read what happens to a dumpster load after pickup.

Hauling a few loads yourself? The county sites take household loads for free, with limits. See the free Yuma County transfer sites.

Can I get a 30-yard outside the city of Yuma?

Yes. Roll-offs are delivered across the Yuma area, including the Foothills, Somerton, San Luis, Wellton, Gadsden and Winterhaven, California.

Each town has its own street rules and nearest disposal sites. Start with your town’s page.

Spanish-speaking callers can ask for help in Spanish. See every town we serve for the full list.
