- Phone: 928-785-3797

- Takes: commercial, industrial and large loads (Sheriff’s Office, listed as Allied Waste Transfer Station). The City of Yuma recycling drop-off is also here.
- Fees: the City says you will be charged for regular trash. No rate is published. Call to confirm.
- Source checked: 2026-10-20
The City’s recycling drop-off moved to this station. It takes cardboard, paper, plastics marked 1 through 7, glass jars and bottles, and aluminum and steel cans. Tell the scale operator you’re dropping off recycling. Keep trash out of a recycling load, or you’ll pay for it.

Rules at every county transfer site
The County’s July 2026 guide sets the same rules at all of its transfer sites.
- One load per customer per day.
- Vehicle size: one trailer or one truck bed, piled no more than two feet above the cab.
- No commercial, industrial or oversize loads.
- Payment: cash and checks at all sites. Cards at North Gila Valley, the Waste Tire Facility and Yuma County South.
- Holiday closures: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, the Friday after Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The County also runs mobile transfer and recycling days at Gadsden Park and Fisher’s Landing. The last 2026 date is Saturday, December 5, from 9 to 11 a.m. See the Yuma County Waste Management page for that schedule.
Household hazardous waste drop-off
The City of Yuma holds free household hazardous waste events at Public Works, 1473 S. 2nd Ave. The next one is Saturday, November 14, 2026, 8 a.m. to noon.
- Who can use it: City of Yuma and Yuma County residents
- Takes: motor oil, paint, household cleaners, antifreeze, solvents, pesticides and fertilizers. It also takes most batteries, household electronics and up to 5 tires off the wheel.
- Doesn’t take: business waste, lead-acid car or boat batteries, explosives, ammunition, pressurized gas, radioactive waste, prescription drugs and sharps
- Phone: Public Works, 928-373-4500
- Source checked: 2026-10-20. The City’s 2026 dates are January 10, April 11 and November 14. No 2027 dates were posted yet.
These items can’t go in a roll-off either. See what can and can’t go in a dumpster before you load.
What does it cost to throw away tires in Yuma County?

Residents get five tires a year before County fees apply. After that, the County’s tire facility charges $5 per passenger tire, or $6 for non-residents.
The County lists its waste tire facility at the North Gila Valley site, 7870 E. County 5th St. Its July 2026 guide also lists semi tires at $7 each and large off-road tires at $30 each. By the ton, it lists $500 for passenger tires, $140 for semi tires and $210 for off-road tires. The County’s item list takes passenger tires only without rims.
The City’s hazardous waste event also takes up to 5 tires off the wheel, free. Call 928-341-2500 to confirm the tire facility’s hours before you go.
Tires can’t go in a dumpster. Arizona law (A.R.S. 44-1304) keeps waste tires out of landfills unless ADEQ approves it in the site’s plan.
Scrap metal at SA Recycling

SA Recycling at 3350 E. 32nd St, Yuma, takes scrap metal, per its business listing. The listing shows Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to noon. We found no official page or phone number, so call ahead to confirm.
Pulling metal out of a cleanout keeps weight out of your dumpster. Less weight means less risk of an overage charge.
How much does it cost to dump construction debris?
We couldn’t find a published per-ton rate for either landfill or the Republic station. Call the site with your load size before you go.
For a small household load, the County’s July 2026 item list mentions carpet, drywall, insulation and concrete. It says concrete pieces must be no larger than 3 feet by 3 feet. It also says no shingles, roofs, soil or dirt. Call 928-341-2500 to ask which county site takes your load.
The landfill’s per-ton charge is called a tipping fee. Contractors can’t use the free county sites, because those refuse commercial loads. So a contractor hauling debris pays at South Yuma County Landfill, Copper Mountain or the Republic station.
A dumpster quote typically includes the tipping fee for a set weight. See what’s included in a Yuma dumpster price for typical figures.
Where can I legally dump dirt in Yuma County?
Not at the free county sites, which list no soil or dirt. Call South Yuma County Landfill (928-341-9300) or Copper Mountain (928-785-3797) first.
The County’s July 2026 item list rules out soil and dirt at its transfer sites. No official page we checked says where dirt should go instead. So ask a landfill about dirt, and its fee, before you load up.
If you put dirt in a roll-off, tell the hauler when you call. Heavy loads fill the weight limit fast, and heavy debris has its own rules.
What do I do with palm fronds?

Call before you haul palm fronds, because not every green waste program takes them. The City’s temporary storm drop-off in September 2025 turned palm fronds away.
That site is not a standing drop-off. For city homes, ask Public Works at 928-373-4500 how to set out fronds. For county homes, ask 928-341-2500 whether a transfer site will take them.
Planning a big palm trim? Tell the hauler you have fronds when you call about a dumpster, so they can confirm.
What happens to a dumpster load after pickup?
The hauler drives it to a landfill or transfer station that takes commercial loads. The load is weighed there.
In Yuma County, the sites listed for large and commercial loads are South Yuma County Landfill, Copper Mountain Landfill and the Republic transfer station. The free county sites can’t take roll-off loads.
The weight on the scale ticket decides any overage. Ask for a copy of the landfill scale ticket if you’re billed for overage. Read how overage charges work in Yuma for typical per-ton figures.
Why not dump it in the desert?
Illegal dumping is a crime in Yuma County. It ranges from a class 2 misdemeanor to a class 6 felony, depending on the type and amount of debris.
A class 6 felony carries up to 2 years in prison and a $150,000 fine, per the Sheriff’s Office. Most dumped debris turns up in the desert around the Foothills and along County 19th near Somerton. Dumped loads include household trash, furniture, lawn trimmings, tires and commercial materials. The Sheriff’s Office calls its approach “zero-tolerance.”
To report dumping, call the Sheriff’s Office at 928-783-4427, or 78-CRIME to stay anonymous. The County’s guide also lists an illegal dumping line at 928-217-3867.
When does a roll-off make more sense than a free county site?
A roll-off makes sense when the job is commercial, too big for one truck bed a day, or on a deadline.
- Contractor or business work. Every county transfer site refuses commercial loads.
- Remodels, roofs and full cleanouts. One load per day means many trips.
- Limited days. South County is open three days a week, and Wellton two.
- No truck or trailer. The County limits you to one trailer or one truck bed anyway. With no truck at all, a junk removal crew can haul it for you.
For a few bags of household junk, the free county sites cost less. That’s fine. If you’re comparing a dumpster, a dump trailer and a junk crew, read dumpster or junk removal, which costs less.
Need a dumpster for a bigger job? Call (928) 296-5462. Calls are answered 24/7. Or ask for a quote online.
What about City of Yuma trash and bulky pickup?
City of Yuma homes get trash pickup from the City. Check the City of Yuma trash and recycle collection page for your pickup day.
The City also runs a free curbside Neighborhood Cleanup for bulky items in city limits. In 2026 it ran January 26 to early April. It doesn’t take construction debris or hazardous waste. Call the City to confirm next year’s dates.
More questions about dumping in Yuma
How do I get rid of home renovation waste? Renovation debris is too much for most self-haul trips, and contractor loads can’t use the free sites. See construction and remodel dumpsters.
How should I get rid of roofing shingles? Shingles are heavy, so size the dumpster by weight. Read how weight limits work.
What’s the cheapest way to get rid of yard waste? Small household loads can go free to a county transfer site, one load per day. Compare self-haul with other options.
What if I have yard waste but no truck? A junk removal crew or a small dumpster can take it. Compare junk removal and a dumpster.
What’s banned from landfills in Arizona? Waste tires and lead-acid batteries are two items state law keeps out. See the full banned list.
